We are excited to announce Dan Walsh as the new Director of U20 Girls/Women’s Hockey for the USDHF. Dan comes with a wealth of experience. He started as a player in 1978 at Leominster DekHockey. Dan played chipmunk through cadet divisions before turning to coaching at the age of 18.
Dan has been coaching for the last 20 years both at the league and all-star level, and has 20+ league and tournament championships as a head coach on his resume.
Dan has taken on increased roles at the local level as Youth Director and Director of youth marketing for Leominster DekHockey. In that role he has promoted the sport in the local media and started a player of the week program. In this role, he also handles any incidents that may occur. Dan also referees as needed.
At the National level he took on the role of Social Media Director for the USDHF. In that role he interacts with players, coaches, coordinators, rink managers and owners all over the US and Canada. Most recently those interactions have been taking place on an international level and he has expanded his role for international tournaments.
Dan just finished a stint as General Manager of the Silver Medal winning Team USA U14 Team. The World Junior Ball Hockey Championships were played in Nitra, Slovakia 6/25/18 - 7/2/18. Dan led a talented and dedicated team of Administrative staff and coaches for the past year and was tasked with handling schedules, tryouts, finances, logistics and travel plans with professionalism and precision.
It is with this diversified background and experience that we appoint Dan to this role. This is an important time for the women’s program and he is the right person to lead it. His responsibilities will include: Full autonomy for all hockey decisions related to the women’s program, Hiring GM’s and Coaches, planning tryouts, overseeing logistics and finances and other duties as assigned.
